About Dr. Maribeth Rossini

Maribeth Rossini, Ph.D., is a clinical neuropsychologist with extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of developmental, learning, and emotional disabilities in children. Dr. Rossini earned her doctoral degree from Loyola University Chicago. She is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Illinois and is also a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), holding an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL). With almost 30 years of experience, she has worked in both private practice and public schools, helping families identify and address learning and behavioral issues that impact children’s functioning. She has substantial experience evaluating children/adolescents, diagnosing their social, emotional, and behavioral needs, and supporting their overall well-being. She is very well-versed in planning educational services for children from early childhood through college. Dr. Rossini has played a key role in multidisciplinary staff meetings, developing students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans. She assists school teams in selecting evidence-based instructional programs and strategies that demonstrate positive learning outcomes.

Dr. Rossini began her career working in Chicago’s inner city. After a decade with Chicago Public Schools, she returned to her western suburban roots, consulting with multiple school districts and special education cooperatives in the western suburbs. She joined a private clinical practice in 2018 and has spent over six years conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations. Raised in Hinsdale, Illinois, she is married, has three children, and lives in Clarendon Hills. Currently, Dr. Rossini leverages her diagnostic expertise, school-based knowledge, and clinical experience in private practice, empowering families to advocate for their child’s needs.

Why Dr. Maribeth Rossini’s Dual Licensure Matters for Your Child

A psychologist who is licensed in both clinical and school psychology offers families a unique perspective on their child. This dual training means the evaluator understands not only how children think, learn, and behave in everyday life, but also how these strengths and challenges show up in school settings. A psychologist with both licenses can seamlessly connect clinical findings with practical, school-based recommendations—helping parents feel confident that their child’s well-being is thoroughly understood and supported both at home and in the classroom.

Most psychologists pursue one path or the other due to the different training requirements, supervised hours, and licensing processes each specialty requires. Clinical psychology focuses on mental health diagnosis and treatment across the lifespan, while school psychology
emphasizes learning, behavior, and special education systems. Earning full credentials—and maintaining them—in both fields requires additional graduate training, internships, examinations, and continuing education. This extensive preparation ensures families can trust in the psychologist’s expertise and dedication.

Because of this added rigor, families who work with a dual-licensed psychologist benefit from a rare combination of expertise, blending deep clinical knowledge with an insider understanding of educational systems like IEPs, 504 plans, special education law, and school-based supports. This specialized skill set reassures families that their child’s needs are understood from multiple angles, providing a higher level of tailored support.

About Rossini Pediatric Neuropsychology

Many children face challenges with learning, attention, behavior, or social skills, but the  causes of these struggles are not always clear. A neuropsychological evaluation explores the underlying factors that may contribute to these difficulties—whether related to cognitive development, learning differences, emotional regulation, or medical and neurological conditions.

An evaluation from Rossini Pediatric Neuropsychology provides individualized recommendations tailored to meet a child where they are. Parents receive detailed feedback and practical strategies that can be implemented immediately by the child’s team, both inside and outside the school. Dr. Rossini completes the entire evaluation and feedback process in one week. Once the parent feedback session is complete, parents receive a comprehensive written report within 2 to 3 weeks. Recommendations and treatment planning include ways to support learning, strategies for building emotional resilience, and guidance on accessing academic instruction/accommodation, special education services, or therapeutic interventions. Additionally, the evaluation provides the documentation often required to advocate effectively for services within schools and healthcare systems.

My goal is to work closely with both children and their families, providing professional expertise alongside compassion and care, so that every child has the opportunity to thrive. Ultimately, a neuropsychological evaluation at Rossini Pediatric Neuropsychology is not just about identifying issues—it’s about creating a plan for success. When the evaluation process is complete, parents leave with a better understanding of their child and a customized plan that builds confidence, independence, and emotional well-being.
